We continue to receive more information for our members concerning the upcoming SPLOST 7 and vote on March 19th. Early voting starts this week on February 25th. The Public Forum is still planned for Thursday, the 28th at 6:30pm. The Winter 2019 Newsletter is attached for your review and accordingly it has addressed in more detail the SPLOST 7 proposal by the County.
At the Forum Thursday night the RCA and the Rabun Coalition for Good Government will strongly advocate for a new Citizens Advisory Committee for Rabun SPLOST administration. It would help provide better transparency and accountability for all citizens. We will also promote the need for a County wide strategic road management plan with regard's to it's Roads, Streets and Bridges which identify our roads based on current condition, safety and need for paving or repaving. It would also prioritize these roads as to funding.
We also have just received information we requested from the County concerning the status of SPLOST 5 and 6. Yes, 5 started in 2008 and just closed. 6 started in 2013 and is still ongoing until September. These reports are available here. We have also just received information about the proposed Jail addition and study from Sheriff Nichols.
